Jessica Amato has been a court reporter since 2004. Having been trained in the voice writing method of court reporting, she repeats, rather than types, what is being spoken by others. Using state-of-the-art technology, she has trained her computer to recognize her individual voice and diction. She speaks into a small silencing device (so that her voice is not heard by others), and her words scroll down the laptop screen as text. Consensus is that voice writing has brought court reporting to the 21st century.
