Job Description

The Compliance Monitoring Manager reporting directly to the Chief Compliance Officer will oversee Bremer's Consumer Compliance Monitoring program. As the Compliance Monitoring Manager, you will be responsible for enhancing, administering, and maintaining a robust Compliance Monitoring Program, including the annual risk assessment used to develop the annual monitoring plan, completing and overseeing monitoring reviews and working with the business lines on timely completion of any remediation plans tied to report findings. In addition, they are responsible for the continuous assessment of regulatory risk and controls to adjust the monitoring plan, as appropriate, understanding and assessing compliance processes and providing reporting to the business lines, senior management and the board identifying key compliance risks.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain an awareness of regulatory and legislative developments and industry trends and assess any potential impact to the organization.
  • Helps to assess Bremer's compliance with both the spirit and the letter of all consumer federal laws and regulations related to Bremer.
  • Responsible to review, update and maintain the Compliance Monitoring Program including the facilitation of the Compliance Monitoring Risk Assessment to determine the annual compliance monitoring review plan.
  • Oversee and develop a team of high-performing compliance monitoring consultants.
  • Together with the compliance monitoring consultants, complete testing and reporting under the annual compliance monitoring review plan to assess Bremer's compliance with federal consumer laws and regulations.
  • Plan and administer compliance reviews and generate written reports for management. Track outstanding issues identified through monitoring and follow up to ensure that timely and appropriate corrective action is taken.
  • Stay current on industry standards, trends, and proposed and actual changes relating to relevant compliance topics.
  • Provide leadership and specialist knowledge to business teams on compliance matters to ensure a culture of compliance and partnership
  • Work collaboratively with all departments by providing compliance guidance and direction for continued best practices.


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A combination of education and experience generally attained through a bachelor's degree and minimum 13 years of bank consumer compliance experience and previous management experience.
  • Regulatory examiner experience, internal audit experience and/or compliance officer experience is a plus.
  • Experience with managing a compliance monitoring team and/or audit team.
  • CRCM preferred but not required. Strong understanding of bank compliance and related topics and policies as it relates to the financial industry.
  • Sound judgment with a high degree of personal integrity and ethics, especially maintaining the confidentiality of sensitive issues; ability to think creatively and collaborate well in a team environment.
  • Detail-oriented, self-motivated individual who feels comfortable with program creation, implementation, and adapting to change.
  • Strong effective verbal and written communication skills, including at senior management level.
  • Excellent organizational and analytical skills; previous people management experience and ability to interact with federal regulatory agencies.
