Position Overview:
The Quality Manager is responsible for developing, planning and directing quality activities in support of the company’s quality assurance operations and goals, ensuring achievement of company standards and maintained with a targeted emphasis on Continuous Improvement.
Primary Responsibilities & Duties:
Manage and lead the daily activities of Quality Assurance of the Plant
Collect, organize, monitor, and report on information related to the functions of the Quality Assurance department.
Establish and maintain continuity of quality related programs and/or issues between all departments and all shifts.
Assist in the issuing, coordinating, and processing of Return Material Authorizations and Supplier Material Rejections
Interact with both customer and company personnel on all levels regarding quality related issues.
Continuously review quality processes for improvement.
Maintain plant and company quality standards – PPM goals Metrics.
Knowledge of ISO-9001:2015
Knowledge of IATF 16949:2016
Ability to coordinate and provide PPAPs to Nelson Customers
Knowledge of MSA, SPC and other monitoring programs.
Ensure process documentation control to the IATF requirements.
Maintain calibration program throughout plant.
Establish production quality plans and set in-process and final inspection hold points.
Schedule and assist in customer inspections audits.
Train personnel on quality processes and procedures
Perform other duties and projects as required.
Required Education & Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience in Engineering or Quality discipline
3-5 years relevant experience
Knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 standard -- required.
IATF 16949:2016 trained lead and auditor -- required.
Experience within manufacturing processes.
Familiarity with Kaizen methodology and Lean concepts
Skills & Abilities:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to develop training and train employees.
Excellent problem-solving skills.
Project management
Computer proficiency in MS windows and office applications, specifically Excel and PowerPoint
Proficiency in SAP preferred.
Strong leadership skills
Ability to prioritize, follow through and build relationships.
