We are currently expanding our global Product Management leadership team for the electric measurement devices, which are the foundation for Itron's product portfolio and accounts for a revenue of ~1 billion USD yearly. Itron's Device Solutions portfolio strategy is to be the leading provider of measurement, safety and operational devices for utilities around the world. We will do this by providing quality products that provide customer value, are competitively priced and are easily integrated into Advanced Metering System (AMS) and Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) systems.

Reporting to the VP of Product Management, your responsibility would be to own, define and drive the overall lifecycle for the electric metering global product portfolio from pre-concept through product end-of-life. You will be responsible for all aspects of this global portfolio, including profit and loss, and lead an international product management team to find outcomes that optimize business success consistent with Itron's devices strategy. As a member of the Devices Product Management staff, you will also be maintaining focus on the quality of products and global platform strategies.

Preferably, this role will be located in Raleigh, NC with some flexibility for Austin, TX and has a hybrid office schedule. You would be working in a virtual team with your manager located in the USA, the other product management directors in North America and France. The team of electricity experts this role manages resides in France, Hungary, North America and Indonesia. You would be travelling at least 20% of your time to the different sites around the globe.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team of product managers and inspire them to achieve best-in-class discipline and skills
  • Set vision for the portfolio while leveraging information from other expertise and alignment with overall Itron strategies
  • Work with Product Marketing to determine portfolio mix based on customer needs, market trends and profitability
  • Collaborate with engineering and program office to deliver new projects through a structured phase gate process
  • Use data and KPIs to monitor and manage the portfolio throughout its lifecycle and adjust to ensure alignment to business expectations
  • Own the Profit and Loss of the product line by establishing product pricing and driving margin improvement plans
  • Launch new products to the market with comprehensive introduction plans, coordinating with market communications and sales
  • Serve as spokesperson and portfolio subject matter expert for Itron's sales team as well as represent the portfolio with our customers
  • Represent product deficiencies and collaborate with cross functional peers to assess root cause and drive improvements
  • Work closely with customers, prospects and other stakeholders to understand define requirements for new products and enhancements to existing products
  • Establish a portfolio roadmap and regularly measure, monitor, and report on it to adapt to business needs Present and promote Itron product offerings at trade shows and other industry events
  • Develop, engage and mentor members of your team

Required Skills & Experience:

  • At least 10 years of experience in a Product Management, Product Marketing or similar portfolio management role
  • Deep knowledge of electric metering products and smart device products
  • Experience leading and engaging large, global, diverse virtual teams
  • Strong project management skillset with ability to deliver and meet targeted project deadlines
  • Ability to drive change, interact and influence global stakeholders with great diversity
  • Experience managing a P&L with a long term forecast that understands the market, customer segment, and how to define business strategy

Preferred Skills & Experience:

  • Degree in engineering and MBA / advanced business studies
  • Experience in driving strategy related to new product sales
  • Subject matter expertise in electric metering and/or advanced metering infrastructure (AMI)
