This position is a Maintenance position and successful candidates must have the ability to work overtime and flex schedule as necessary to meet the needs of production. Successful candidates will be self-motivated, and under the direction of production and maintenance supervision safely operate and maintain (mechanically and electrically) equipment in their assigned area to produce quality product, right the first time. This position will perform sanitation and housekeeping duties as well as train line associates on assigned equipment. Line Technician may be required to operate equipment.

The Line Technician should be the initiator of activities to ensure our customers are getting high quality products in an efficient manner, and should facilitate use of the team approach to seek Continuous Improvement and implement ideas. The Line Technician should be familiar with all equipment to the point that he/she can make adjustments and repairs during its operation. The Line Technician reinforces Safety, Quality and Teamwork as a Business Imperative.

Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Basic electrical experience preferred and Plant reserves the right to make this a mandatory requirement.
  • Troubleshoot basic mechanical equipment, maintain and improve mechanical systems, and complete work orders to prevent mechanical breakdowns within the department.

  • Perform line change over as required by production schedule.
  • Lead in establishing predictive maintenance initiatives for focused department.
  • Lead in enhancement of existing equipment to improve line effectiveness.
  • Lead efforts to develop/enhance PM's and troubleshooting guides as assigned by supervisor for focused department.
  • Coordinate with mechanics, other technicians and line personnel across shifts maintenance efforts on assigned equipment.
  • Utilize the SAP system to document activities and to enter time daily.
  • Assist in development of spare parts requirements and min/max levels.
  • Develop and maintain a good working relationship with engineering and maintenance, supervisor, TLs and line operators on all shifts.
  • Assist supervision in the identification of operator skill gaps and provide possible solutions.
  • Support plant high performance culture and continuous improvement programs through active participation in QCDSM and plant productivity programs.
  • Comply and actively participate in all safety (KSRMP) and environmental (KEMS) policies, procedures and programs. May serve on KSRMP team.
  • Comply with all QCMS program requirements including HACCP and GMPs.
  • Perform area housekeeping duties.
  • Perform all tasks as assigned by supervisor.
  • Recommend and implement continuous improvement on equipment and system design through use of the team concept. Support project planning and execution
  • Communicate with other line technicians on other shifts, as necessary, to ensure coordination of all maintenance efforts on assigned equipment and effectively operate as part of a team
  • Support implementation of department SQCDM ideas/suggestions
  • Maintain a good working relationship with all equipment operators on all shifts
  • Conduct training for other associates in area of responsibility
  • Manage spare parts and standby equipment for assigned equipment
  • Conform to Kraft Heinz's policy and procedures including, but not limited to: Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP's), Lock Out/Tag Out, HACCP check points, Kraft Quality Standards, Fall Protection, Hot Work, OSHA Regulations, and all others
  • Report and correct unsafe acts and conditions
  • Determine product sequencing to minimize changeover time
  • Perform sanitation and reassembly so that it meets Kraft Heinz Standards and also minimizes downtime
  • Work with vendors as necessary
  • Perform other duties as designated by the team

  • High School Diploma/GED Required.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in Industrial Maintenance
  • Must be able to maintain and operate all equipment in assigned area
  • Demonstrate successful application of problem-solving techniques, effective communication and planning
  • Must be Powered Industrial Truck licensed and follow all safety rules and procedures
  • Must be willing to travel as required
  • All other duties as assigned in order to support efficient plant operations
  • Background in industrial, mechanical, electrical, computer systems
  • Must have knowledge of and capable of performing special technical skill (e.g. basic electrical troubleshooting, basic PLC skills, machining, welding tasks, gas trane).
  • Must have the ability to communicate technical information so as to improve the skills of the plant technicians.
  • Must have a working knowledge of electrical installation and construction.
  • Able to walk, stand and sit for the duration of a 12 hour shift
  • Performs bending, squatting, kneeling, sorting, and reaching to both ground level and overhead
  • Ascend/Descend stairs and ladders throughout shift
  • Lift up to up to 50 pounds independently, and heavier weights with assistance
  • Holds and grips objects
  • Able to give and understand instructions and hold conversations in manufacturing environment, as well as an office or classroom setting
  • Must possess manual dexterity necessary to operate equipment, disassemble and reassemble equipment, operate a computer and other standard office equipment
